Jo Ann Hammons's Story
I retired in January 2009 - finally! I was a stay at home mom for about ten years, but when the kids were in junior high and high school I decided to go back to work. What a mistake that was - 25 years later I retired. I have worked in banking, public relations at the junior college level, athletic marketing (Fresno State), city government and ended up in the judicial system working for the court administrator of the Superior Court in Prescott, Arizona.
It may seem I jumped around a lot in my employment. That is because of my husband's work we moved from Lindsay to Utah, then to Texas, then back to Fresno and then back to Texas. When our kids moved to the Phoenix area, we decided we ...Expand for more
would all like to be in the same state. We did not want to live in the very hot part of Arizona so we settled in Prescott which is 90 miles north of Phoenix, in the mountains at 5100 ft. elevation. We love it here and enjoy the four seasons without it getting too hot or too cold.
I am, needless to say, enjoying retirement. I have a small antique business which keeps me poking around looking for things to buy. I started selling antiques when we lived in Texas and have been hooked ever since. We hope to do some traveling soon and I will be anxious to hit some new territory.
We have two kids (Eric & Erin) and 4 grandchildren (Jacob 10, Meghan 8, Lindsey 20 & Elizabeth 9). What a joy they are!
